Aluminum Recycling: SGM for a Sustainable Future

Aluminum recycling plays a key role in circular economy efforts. It uses only 5% of the energy needed for primary production and avoids over 100 million tons of CO₂ per year.

As demand grows across automotive, construction, electronics, and packaging, so does the need for systems that can manage complex alloys and ensure high purity outputs.

Aluminum Recycling: SGM for a Sustainable Future

SGM integrates three core technologies, designed to work in synergy:

  • XRT (X-ray Transmission):
Separates aluminum based on atomic density. Ideal for distinguishing light alloys (1xxx, 5xxx, 6xxx) from heavy alloys (2xxx, 4xxx, 7xxx) and for removing Fe, Cu, Zn. First-stage, high-volume solution.
  • XRF-T (X-ray Fluorescence):
Combines density and chemical analysis for finer alloy separation. Enhances recovery and reduces loss of valuable fractions.
  • LIBS (Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy):
Detects elemental composition with precision, even separating similar alloys within the same series (e.g., 6060 vs 6061). Final refinement stage for high-spec applications.

SGM designs complete and integrated solutions, adaptable to both existing plants and new lines. With global references and decades of experience, SGM stands as a technological partner for sustainable, high-performance aluminum recycling.
