The SGM Induction Sensor Separator is a high-precision belt separator designed to detect and recover non-ferrous metals that do not respond effectively to Eddy Current Separators (ECS). These metals typically represent 2% to 5% of ECS waste and fall into two main categories:

  • Zurik: primarily stainless steel
  • Copper Wires: both insulated and bare copper

By integrating state-of-the-art induction sensor technology, the SGM sensor separator ensures superior metal recovery, optimizing recycling efficiency and reducing material loss.

How the induction sensor separator works

  1. Metal Detection: The system uses high-resolution inductive sensors placed beneath the belt to detect the presence of metals as they pass through the electromagnetic field.
  2. Automated Sorting Process: Once a metal is identified, the information is sent to a control unit, which triggers pneumatic rejector valves mounted at the belt’s discharge point.
  3. Precision Separation: The top or bottom-blowing air jet system expels metal particles downward, ensuring a clean and efficient sorting trajectory.

This method is particularly effective for insulated copper wires and irregularly shaped stainless steel pieces, which require a wider air spectrum and optimized rejection force for accurate separation.
